A flower-shaped steel structure in the Changsha Meixihu International Culture Arts Center has received its final touch in Changsha, Hunan Province, on Sunday.
According to Hunan-based Changsha Evening News, the structure, covering an area of 100,000 square meters, was made up of more than 10,000 steel bars, with the thickest up to 45 millimeters, bringing a total weight of 22,000 tons, just half the weight of Beijing’s Bird’s Nest.

Designed by renowned British designer Zaha Hadid, the art center is anticipated to be open to the public at the end of next year, and expects millions of visitors annually.
